Re: Extremely high emissions

Honestly mate. Getting the CAT nice and hot and catalyzing properly will make a world of difference and probably bring it down to pass it after a couple of goes max. Especially if you put the standard air box back on. Apparently the cone filters are only for noise as they usually dont help power and...

Re: Extremely high emissions

^ What he said ^ Did you give it a bloody good thrash before you took it in for the MOT or did it you just drive it there normally or did it sit and cool down before he did the test? I always give my cars a good thrash on the way there but last year I took both my car and wife's car to be MOTed and ...

Re: car insurance

That is a very sad state of affairs when insurance forces you away from a car that you love for a stupid rule! I presume that you have tried any Jap Import specific insurance brokers that you may have in Ireland? I use Mark Richards and a few others in England and they have always found great deals ...

Re: Gear Box Conversion

Not sure tbh but Ive heard the J160 box from a 6 cylinder IS200 can be used BUT some components/internals from a 4 cylinder ALtezza gearbox need to be switched over, I think.

Re: Altezza cranks but not starting

I'm still here but unfortunately Ive been busy lately and not checked the forum for a while. I try to get on when I can though. This was always gonna eb a tricky one to diagnose as it could be one of many things either power, fuel, spark or air related! Guessing you got all the basics checked and it...

Re: car insurance

Bloddy hell! Thats crazy! I only ever found the Jap specialist brokers giving decent quotes but I am over 30 and got no claims and the car isnt modified so might explain why mine is only about £340!

Re: Full exhaust system

To keep or get you out of trouble? Do you mean full as in including manifold downpipe and cat too? Only reason I ask is I eventually want to replace my standard system from cat back and go for a dual exit stainless system but every year I look at mine expecting it to be s@3! and its always fine! LOL...

Front Camber Setting / Wheel Alignment?

To cut a very long story, (relatively) short I had the standard inner tyre wear on front tyres but also had more extreme wear on the drivers side. I put a new lower ball joint on (cos boot was split) and also did the castor arm bushes cos they looked a bit perished. i then took the car to be aligned...

Re: Throttle position sensor

I know these can be a bugger and once you have touched them it can be a world of hurt to sort it! If all is well then I don't think you should ever have to touch them tbh. Maybe the ECU has self learnt and tried to solve it but getting mixed up because the TPS is in the wrong position (after you adj...
