Changed my fuel filter

Postby Evelyn » Wed Mar 03, 2010 9:51 pm

I have being talking about doing this for a while. My mechanic is out sick so I desided to tattle this myself saturday evening. I followed Shane instruction in the how-to section. It wasnt really as bad as I taught. It took me roughly 2.5hrs on my own.

I am so glad I did it. I taught I could get a wee smell of diesel on it and I gave it to my brother to smell aswell & he taught the same thing.
Anyone thinking of doing this be very carefull with the seals on the old one there is some on it thats needed for the new one. I was a little bit wary because when I first bought it for a drive it was jumpy (just coming out of the estate) but it cleared it self. It was probaby just filling the new filter.
I find the accelerator alot more responsive now. It diffently got rid of some of my lag in the lower down revs & gears. I am also finding that if I am in higher gears & loose power it isnt as hard to re-gain it. I also had a quick peek around the tank and there wasnt any loose grit in it so I am happy with that too

Did mine the other week too. Didn't have a pin though & lost that little black clip
Seems to run a bit better now with the fresh filter in though.
Good on ya Evelyn for getting in their & giving it a go

I tryed to open my old filter with a hammer and it just bounced off it  , because I am dying to know what state it is in.

No I didnt, I didnt really look at the how-to section before I order it. If I didnt I probably would have. There was a few bits of grit on it and there is no way to open it and clean inside it so I just cleaned if off the best of I could with petrol.

I Hacksawed it half open then have it a tap with a log splitter axe & it just came apart. I failed with the hammer as well. They're tough little buggers.

would the fuel filter for an IS200 be the same as an Altezza 1?
